Jay D. Harmer, the fifth generation of Harmers to serve the Shinnston area, is a 1976 graduate of Shinnston High School, and received his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fairmont State College. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1986. In addition to his work with the funeral home, Jay is a member of the Shinnston Volunteer Fire Department, where he has held the office of Assistant Chief. Jay is also the president of Shinnston Park Board. He is Treasurer of the Lowe Public Library Board of Directors. He is married to Pamela Heldreth Harmer, and the couple have three children, Miranda, Jeremy, and Jacob; and two grandchildren, Kohen and Prea. |
 | Brandy L. Spadafore, Office Manager
Brandy L. Spadafore, of Shinnston, joined the staff of Harmer Funeral Home as the Office Manager in January of 2011. Brandy is a graduate from Chaska High School class of 2004. She is also a graduate from South Central College class of 2011 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Office Technology, specialized in Legal Administrative Assistant. Brandy is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society of the Two-Year College. Brandy is also a sub-secretary for Harrison County Schools. She is invovled in the Big Elm Elementary PTA and Parent Volunteer with the Shinnston Tornadoes 4-H Club. Brandy is also a member of the Preston County Historical Tractor Association. She is married to Joseph Bradley Spadafore, and the couple have three children, Joseph, Dominick, and Sophia. |

Jacob A. Harmer, the Sixth generation of Harmers to serve the Shinnston area, is a graduate of Lincoln High School, and received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Psychology, Athletic Coaching, and Physical Education from West Virginia University. He is currently attending the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Jacob is getting married in June 2017 to Chelsy N. Nazelrodt. |
 | Matthew D. Smith, Funeral Attendant
Matthew D. Smith, of Farmington, joined the staff of Harmer Funeral Home as an apprentice Funeral Director and Embalmer in November 2007. Matt is a graduate from North Marion High School class of 1998. He is a licensed EMT, Basic Life Support instructor, and formerly a County Medical Examiner. Matt is a member of the Marion County Rescue Squad and part-time EMT for Grant Town. |
