Arthur J. Williams, 81, of Coons Run, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at his home.
He was born March 24, 1935 in Harrison County a son of the late Herbert and Erma Chrislip Williams.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife Alice Virginia Higginbotham Williams whom he married December 23, 1961.
Also surviving are his children, Jimmy Williams and wife Jean; Dee Ann Wagner and husband Gene; Scotty Williams and wife Missy, all of Fairmont; his grandchildren, Josh and wife Breanna, Matt and wife Katelyn, and Zach Williams; Cody Winter; Jason and Morgan Wagner; Hunter and Alexis Williams; great-grandson, Gunner Williams; his sister, Sue Davis; and sisters-in-law, Loretta Williams and Wilma Williams; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Denzil C. Rollins; June Williams; Jimmy Williams; Grace Barnes; Robert Williams; Sis Carper; Arlie Williams; Jack Williams; and an infant sister.
Arthur was employed through the years at the local coal tipple, J&S Machine, Fairmont Supply, as well as Fresa Construction. He was a member of the Owings Community Church. He enjoyed going fishing and camping, as well as boating and playing softball. But his greatest pastime was watching his grandkids play ball.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St. Shinnston on Wednesday from 2-8 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 14th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery.
