Obituary for Marcia Jane Tichenor (Gower)

Marcia Jane (Gower) Tichenor, 78, of Bridgeport passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Rosewood in Grafton.
She was born June 24, 1938 in Ellamore, Randolph County, a daughter of the late Dalton and Unie Gower.
Marcia was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Tichenor whom she married on May 20, 1963.
She is survived by her son, Walter Tichenor Jr. of Bridgeport; her daughter, Elizabeth Hope Todd and husband Sonny of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Josie and Kacy Todd; sister-in-law, Genevieve Arnett; her pet and companion, Dora; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marcia was a graduate of Coalton High School and was previously employed at United Hospital Center and G.C. Murphy’s. She was a member of the Enterprise United Methodist Church. Marcia enjoyed watching NASCAR. She loved Dale Earnhardt and had a strong distain for Jeff Gordon. Marcia enjoyed gardening and most of all spending time with her granddaughters, Josie and Kacy.
The family would like to thank the fine folks of Rosewood in Grafton for their excellent care.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, 300 Pike St. Shinnston from 5-8 PM on Thursday. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 9th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Brian Plum officiating. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation at Grand Central Station P.O. Box 4777 New York, NY 10163-4777.
