Obituary for Roger Hager

Roger L. Hager 70, of Shinnston passed away at home, Thursday March 16, 2017, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on November 22, 1946 in Calhoun County WV, a son of the late Thomas Dale Hager and Agnes Aileene Ramsey Hager. Also preceding him in death were his granddaughter, Whitney Hager and his sister Nancy Garton.
He is survived by his wife, Polly Owens Hager, whom he married June 14, 1980, a daughter, Marlene Shelton and husband, Sebastian, Clarksburg, his sons, Roger Hager and wife Kristi, Shinnston and Josh Hager and wife Lauren, Middleburg, FL; grandchildren, Lamar Taylor, Michael Taylor, Deja Taylor, Graci Hager, Emma Hager, Olivia Hager, Luke Hager; his sister, Janet Webber and husband, Jerry, Janie Weaver and husband Rick, his brothers, John Hager, Tom Hager and wife Irene; his great-grandson, Micah Taylor; several nieces and nephews;
Mr. Hager served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War serving two tours. He worked in the coal industry as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Knights of Pythias, American Legion Post 31, Shinnston and VFW Post 573, Clarksburg.
He enjoyed gardening and loved to collect pin Knives and guns.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston from 2-8 PM Sunday. A funeral service will be at the funeral home at 10:30 AM Monday, March 20, 2017 with Pastor Steve Henry officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown.
